You are confused. Christians believe that Jesus was the son of God. They worship God and emulate the teachings of his son. jacfar: in christians creed it is written that Jesus is fully God (nicean creed 325) and Jesus is God the Son (athanasius creed 451). saved_by_grace :John 1:1 in the King James Bible teaches that Christ was God. John 3:16 teaches that He is the Son of God. 1 John 5:7 (KJV) is clear that the Father, the Word, (Jesus) and the Holy Ghost are one. God is one God in three Persons: The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit. There are many passages in the Bible that support the Deity of Christ. Joe-Speedy :WOW! Now I am confused too! What if the word "God" is actually a proper name like John and Jacob?

In the bible it says that they are one and the same. So no. They worship God. But man was also created in the image of God, so does that mean that we are mini gods or just look like Him. So would it mean that by worshiping Him we are worshipping ourselves?

Jacfar, I get the feeling that you're simply playing with words to prove a point but I will brave an answer anyway. You are right in saying that Jesus is fully God and fully man because He is. You are also correct to say that we Christians worship Jesus because we do. However it would NOT be correct to say that we worship God and man because we don't worship 'man' as a generalization. We worship ONLY ONE MAN because THAT MAN IS GOD, JESUS CHRIST! He is the ONLY man who can rightfully claim to be deity, therefore He is the only one who can be rightfully worshipped.

Yes. Jesus is 100% God and 100% man. Thus, when we worship him we worship not only God but also a man. God the Son, the Word took the nature of a man called Jesus. When we say; O Lord Jesus, we are calling His human nature, so we worship a man. But this is OK, since the Catholic Church allowed us to do (Nicea Creed 325).

Christians worship 'that' man but not men in general. And they worship him because of his divinity not because of him being a man.
-
The Bible says that (John 1:14) the word was made flesh and dwelt among us... not that Jesus as a man should be worshipped but the spirit of God through Jesus.
-
no. in the scriptures it points out that the son of God took on flesh and came down to us to die for is. its just that he decided to give up his ability of being omnipresent and show himself in form of physical being so that we human beings would be able to see something and comprehend. (even if we did worship man in that sense we would be woshipping god because he created us)

They may do so, but in doing so they are going against their own scriptures. Nowhere in the scriptures did Jesus say 'I am God' or 'worship me' either in those exact words or in any other words as clear as those. We can't claim to know Jesus more than the people around him, they obviously knew Jesus best and none of them called him God. In fact (according to Matthew 19:17) someone called him 'good', not 'god' and was rebuked by Jesus “Why callest thou me good?” and told by Jesus that “there is none good but one, that is, God”. If we understand plain English and logic then we can see quite clearly Jesus is NOT God. Therefore anyone worshipping him is worshipping a man only.
