Yes, since the Supreme Court has already ruled on this. Do I think it's okay morally? Nope. Totally against it. It contributes to bullying and harassment which are a big enough problem as it is.

I don't think that it would be the best way to grade papers, but maybe it could show student's to be honest, of course the teacher should also double check the grading

As long as the content of the paper isn't too subjective, then sure. I did this a lot in middle school. I remember that it was helpful to the self-esteem to be able to evaluate the work of your peer, and you actually learn in the process. It also encourages top-notch work from the students since they do not want to seem lame in the eyes of their peers.... As long as the grading doesn't leave too much evaluation of "right and wrong" answers to the students, the interactivity can encourage students to participate in the process and understand how to submit better work. (or worse!!)

No, It just encourages cheating.

I think it is OK under a controlled environment. I remember from when I was in school that we had to pass our papers/tests to the person in back of us and we would grade all of the tests right there. I used to grade dittos, tests and worksheets for my mom when I was a student! I believe that is OK since we didnt even go to the same school! Besides, she graded the real papers and essays herself of course. I know that her judgement was needed for that.

There is no moral or accuracy problem when the answers are objective and the grading is verifiable with a clear process for appeal if one feels there is an error in the correction. However, I believe there is a privacy issue that overrides that and I would prefer to have students grade their own. As far as cheating is concerned - one cannot erase an ink mark.

WE never graded each others papers but sometimes after writing a little quiz or a movie worksheet, we would pass it behind us 2 or 3 seats and then mark them. The quizzes were then all handed in to the teacher so he looked at them as well to prevent cheating. I think it's fine as long as it is something that isn't worth a lot of weight.
