Sorry to disappoint, but the $100 Shure SM-58. Although relative to expensive mikes the frequency response (50Hz-15KHz) is poorer for singing, without any further specificity of the question, the SM-58 is just the best mike around, due almost exclusively to its rock-solid steel construction and the design changes made based on its incredibly profound road use, which we see in the modern SM-58. It doesn't feed back nearly as quickly as other vocal mikes. You can roll over it with your Toyota Camry and it'll still work. The connectors don't get touchy and crackly. The pop filter and grille are fine. You can juggle it, toss it, pass it from hand to hand, from hand to stand, drop it, kick it, convert it from wired to wireless and back, and it won't spike your PA gear much at all. It's very resistant to external interference/hum/noise. –54.5 dBV/Pa isn't bad either for, by all standards, a 'Very Cheap Microphone'.

I have always always always been a 100% shure girl....but just a few weeks ago I tried out both the SM58beta wireless version and a Sennheiser evolution G2 series wireless....and by FAR...BY FAAARRRR the Sennheiser outshone the Shure, in clarity, frequency range, everything.
