Why do some countries drive on the left and others on the right? Who determines this?

Personally I think it is fairly difficult question but nevertheless a good one. I may only suggest some reasons. Some countries merely choose to be different from the others. If you drive on the left, I will drive on the right. However the influence of neighboring countries cannot be discarded. Countries which were colonized would certainly emulate their colonial masters.

i think its just america trying to be different lol like how we use different forms of measurement and degrees yet pretty much the rest of the world uses celcius and what not(sorry its early, at work and tired... lol not to much in the thinking mode just yet... no coffee... ugh...)
