Ipods are for playing music. Some come with a radio in them while others are just storage for music. When you buy the ipod it comes without any music in it. You hook it up to your computer and can download music from your CD's or you can download music from the internet. If you buy music online it can become expensive fast. I download illegally. After you are done downloading the music to your ipod you can unplug your ipod from your computer and plug headphones into it like a Walkman, but it doesn't have a cassette in it it has a memory which stores all of your music. You do not replace the battery you plug it in at the end of the day to a wall outlet or to your computer to charge. There are many accessories available for your ipod. Devices which will allow you to play the ipod's music from your car's speakers. Cases which will protect your ipod when out and about using it. Any other questions just ask : )

You can't text. One my IPod I can listen to music, store pictures, videos, and phone numbers, there is a calendar, and a calculator. I have access the internet (with a wireless signal) and can down load tunes from the IPod. There are also updates that you can buy.
