To be standard is to be 'inside the box'. You live by the book. I am not a standard person! i am everything but that! i think 'standard' people are boring lol

In a court, evidence must meet certain "standards" to be admitted. There are multiple "rules of evidence" which govern what might be admitted and what would be excluded. So I would suppose that "standard evidence" was that which was admissible. I'm not sure if this is your question, however.

The standards of the rules of evidence means the list of the things that courts can accept as evidence in the rulings of the judge and jury. There are more than one standard, at the Federal level, State level, and other places. There is an excellent article about it in wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Rules_of_Evidence

If someone asked me about a 'standard' when I was dealing with evidence, I'd actually think first about something different from the rules of evidence mentioned above (although that's certainly valid!). If I am doing a presumptive test for blood on an unknown stain, I first make sure my chemicals are working properly. I do this by performing the test on a known standard of blood. Standards are also used to test equipment to ensure everything is working correctly, and that might include anything from a DNA analyzer to an alternate light source. So that's another definition of standard. :)
