  • Yes, it is possible to develop allergies later in life. Sometimes too, allergies you've had will disappear. I believe your general physician can refer you to a specialist that does allergy testing. If it turns out it is your cat, there are options for you which you should also ask your doctor about. We have a friend that is considering shots. Apparently, if you get the shot every week for a year, there is a high chance it will cure your pet allergy.
  • Well......seems I could write a book on allergies. No, i'm not a doctor, but took allergy shots for 5 years. Your doctor will refer you to an allergist. You will be tested for many annoying things from food, animals, to environmental, ect. You certainly can develop allergies later that you have never had. Once you start your shots (after you find your allergies), it is very important you take them in the period you are suppose to. It is much better for you to finish them when your allergist says you have built up an immunity. Usually within 5 years. It could be the cat today, antibiotics tomorrow. Good luck. You will have a big pay-off in the long run.
