I'm moving out-of-state and will be looking for apartments. What is the best way to prepare for giving a deposit when all I will have is out-of-state checks? Should I take cash, or get a blank money order, or something else? What options do I have?

Most leasing offices will take credit cards..i would put it on like a Visa gift card

Carry as little cash as possible! Out of state cks are fine, it only takes 5-7 days to clear. For an apartment it will be fine! If it were for clothes or something like that, they would say NO! Never ever carry a blank anything that is signed!!!!!!!!!!

you can't get blank money orders they have to have an amount on them. i would take limited cash, credit cards or travelers check. If you find an apt and they need a money order you can always find a bank and cash in the travelers checks for cash, use your banks check card (ATM) for withdrawels at the bank and you could cash advance your credit card if you had too. Plan to charge meals, shopping, etc and use cash for places that absolutely do not accept credit. Most banks will cash a personal check (after verifying with your bank you have the money)..
