  • Youre crazy!!! Have you actually ever listened to one of his songs? Have you ever actually listened to his lyrics? Its your opinion so keep it to yourself.
  • The Boss remains the Boss for a lot of people-I do believe his voice got him where he is/was - you saying Streets of Philadelphia isn't sung by what you consider a "good vocalist"? But, that is your opinion.
  • Though he may not have one of the greatest voices of all time, when you can write songs like he does, and put together one of the absolute tightest bands in the industry, you are bound to be successful as long as you can carry a tune. Just ask Tom Petty.
  • He is a great song writer, a story teller of sorts, not a perfect vocalist.
  • I love his voice. I think it's sexy and manly. It carries the message as far as I'm concerned.
  • Listen to "The River" or "Point Blank" and if you still think his voice stinks then you must have really bad taste!
  • he is the epidemy of hype!! just shows that with with the right connections you can do anything - such as sing when you can't sing!! i agree - he sure leaves a lot to be disired as far as singing goes!!
  • Bruce Springsteen, one of America's greatest social commentators, Just listen to the lyrics. It's not always about the aesthetic body of a song, it's about the deep reaching and poignant point to his music. His reaction to the events of 9/11 and after offer up the feeling of a nation in a form that everyone can relate to. Empty Sky, a track from the album The Rising is perhaps one of the most devestating post sept. 11th tracks. EMPTY SKY I woke up this morning I could barely breathe Just an empty impression In the bed there you used to be I want a kiss from your lips I want an eye for an eye I woke up this morning to the empty sky Empty sky, empty sky I woke up this morning to an empty sky Empty sky, empty sky I woke up this morning to an empty sky Blood on the streets Blood flowin' down I hear the blood of my blood Cryin' from the ground Empty sky, empty sky I woke up this morning to an empty sky Empty sky, empty sky I woke up this morning to an empty sky On the plains of Jordan I cut my bow from the wood Of this tree of evil Of this tree of good I want a kiss from your lips I want an eye for an eye I woke up this morning to the empty sky Empty sky, empty sky I woke up this morning to an empty sky Empty sky, empty sky I woke up this morning to an empty sky Empty sky, empty sky I woke up this morning to an empty sky
  • One thing we both agree - is band is *GOOD*:). I disagree on Bruce though. Your comment/question made me wonder. Why do I like Bruce's singing? I don't know exactly. I first enjoyed a song, the band playing it with Bruce singing, all enjoying themselves. Then I discovered many more songs, records, discovered different Bruce voices (compare Tougher Than The Rest with War, or Out In The Street with The River), so different that to me seemed two different persons) but I've not fallen in love with Bruce's act because he sounds good, even if he does to me. It's everything emotional. It's everything he makes me feel. It's the messages, the dreams, the values, the fun, the giving, the delivering. It's, therefore, much more than technique, which I assume you were talking about that. You probably find those same things only in other artists! Cheers
  • I've never really cared much for his voice and maybe it's because of where he comes from, a more urban environment, but his songs never meant very much to me, or maybe I was too old when he started to sing. I just never felt any connection to his songs as if they never related to how I was feeling or what I was thinking.
  • I've never thought much of Bruce's music. I do like a few of his songs, though, "Streets of Philadelphia" being one. His voice isn't that great, but it does go pretty good with his music. He's more of a storyteller than a singer, and so his voice, with it's rough edges is well suited for his songs. On the other hand, when he tries to portray this blue-collar working class image, it seems contrived somehow, I just don't buy it.
  • 1) He's an EXCELLENT songwriter 2) He's a great showman 3) He sings a HELLUVA lot better than people like Bob Dylan (even YOU have to admit that!) 4) Songwriters who sing sometimes are NOT that great (remember Kim Carnes?) but people want to hear their songs.
  • I've never knowing heard anything by him that I liked at all, and, eg, Born To Run I hate.
  • He is performing at halftime - 2009 superbowl
  • He's pretty good. I don't think he's bad at all, I like a lot of his songs. But I do think he is somewhat overrated. And its not so much because of his music but because he has become "The Boss", this cultural icon. Like I say, I think he's a pretty good musician, but its really because of this iconic status that he gets more credit than Mellencamp, Petty, etc, who are at least his equal if you ask me.
  • I like his voice. He sounds like Dylan would if he could carry a tune. Like Dylan his music is for common people who appreciate art. I guess that doesn't include you.
  • I wouldn't say he stinks but I would say he is highly over-rated! haha
  • well I wouldn't say he stinks but he wouldn't make my top 500 albums
  • He's not a terrible singer. His vocals may not be beautiful but he's alright.
  • I'm afraid to say that I like his singing -- and he seems to be one of the few "Golden Oldies" that, in my opinion, sounds even better today than he did years ago. I saw a doccie on him on TV recently. Many of the "oldies" are making comebacks, but few of them sound as good as they did years ago (which is understandable, I suppose).
