I believe they do know they are doing it. I believe they do so because they hurt for themselves and feel the need to lash out. Of course this never works and many are left with the feeling of regret.

Believes he or she is special and unique and only should associate with other special, high-ranking people whom alone can understand them. 4.) Need too much admiration from others. 5.) Feel entitled to special treatments. Have unreasonable expectations and expect that others obey their expectations. 6.) Takes advantage of others for their own reasons. 7.) Lacking in empathy. Can't put themselves or won't put themselves in other's shoes. 8.) Often envies other people or believes that others envy them. 9.) Are arrogant, haughty in behavior or attitude

I agree, it's amazing that people don't even realize that they're making it harder on others. They were never taught (as children) to be empathetic. Most peoples' worlds revolve around their own problems, emotions, and thoughts, so it's rarely personal at all.

They enjoy hurting other people. It makes them feel powerful and in control. They know what they are doing.
