  • No!!!.......manners are a way to enable you to move through life and be accepted in business and socially. There is nothing more awful than to sit at a table with someone who slurps their soup, eats with their mouth open and acts like a disgusting pig. Without manners you would be an outcast and not even know why. Be thankful you are being taught the correct manners. As far as mean questions or mean words........sounds like an angry or controlling personality there. Get over it, put your mind and mouth on things that build up instead of tear down. There are ways to discuss your thoughts without making others defensive and cut you off before you can express yourself.
  • I don't know if manners brainwash you, but one could look at it this way when considering their significance for a healthy and prosperous existence within society. Which defies their entire nature to begin with. As far as I'm concerned, manners and etiquette are nothing but subtle means to lie and to dismiss others. They're superficial because I'm sure that 90% of the people who use manners and find them important never mean what the manners imply, and are used merely to elevate one's self esteem in the face of others. I hate manners, because they hide what you really think in the name of cowardice and pretension. When some stranger asks how you're doing, do you really think he gives a fuck how you're doing? I don't know. Guess they serve their purpose, so much so in fact, that long ago I've come to know what people really mean when they patronize me with their morals and pretentious pats on the head, blegh. They're merely used to secure one's position, completely disregarding what it is actually said to mean. The most true words of thanks I've ever been given were always when nobody else was around to hear it. They'll just pretend to care, and that's not worth any kinda regression. And you have a good point. Are people so scared to ask or answer questions in all their truthfulness because it might endanger the perception others have of them? I want the truth, not your farking image. Nobody cares about anyone but themselves, so it's not a big risk in the end what they'll really think of you in the end.
