you are still in the states, so speaking spanish is definitely not a requirement. however, 45% of the population is hispanic, so it's possible you may encounter a lot of spanish speakers. in that sort of area, it can be a very beneficial job skill to be bilingual, and learning a new language is never a bad thing. median income is $39-42K, so you are looking at a cost of living (hopefully) a little below that range. the city has one of the top 20 unemployment rates in the states. yuma is one of the hottest and sunniest places in the US, but with low humidity, it won't be horribly bad if you wear sunscreen and drink lots of water. there is lots of hunting, fishing and hiking.
