How many families/single moms are suffering financially because they can't afford adequate, acceptable daycare/after school care, for their kids, so one parent can't work full time?

I don't know, but it's those with not much money who suffer. The rich can always employ a young girl as a live-in maid/nanny.

I am sure no one thinks about this problem before having children or planning children. Choices we make determine our future and in this case the childrens future as well. If I had received good advice as a young person, I would not had children or waited until I could afford them and the responsibilitys of day-care etc. the children suffer the most. We suffer from our own choices to have kids when we can not really afford them. Once you have them, suffering financially is a given.
