  • I dont personally know many black people who are voting for Obama without reaosn. I dont feel like now is the time to say "We'll vote for him becuase he shares the same skin tone" or even something like "He's down with the black folk!" (Heard this about Bill Clinton for the longest, although I cant remember really what he did to get the postion in these certain individauls eyes). Saying thast he's for change is actually as far as most people know. Both Obama and McCain have changed their point of view durin gthe whole race, then calling eachother flipflopers. And when many Obama voters think "McCain" they think "Bush (who isnt in the best light in manys eyes rigth now). Some logic I had heard from an older balck male not to long agio was prety muhc : Theres no reaosn NOT to vote for Obama. If there has been a 70% disapproval rate, and MCCain wants to stay with the same policies as Bush, then why not vote for Obama. He'll offer somethign different. And if Obama doesnt win or atleast have msot of the vote, we'll truly fidn out how racist America is. America isnt as fair as some people view it, when most of your race seems to have more hardships youll almost automatically trust someone who looks like you to make it better. Also, its not just blacks but HIspanics, Asians, and even Whites who supoprt him and may not have a solid reason. By now people should have reason to vote for Obama, but for othrs, just seeing someone with this shade of skin makes them happy. But feelign like if this person gets in office that your race may finally (depending on how you feel about the situation) be catered to, or any minorities for that fact, gives alot of people more reaosn to vote for him. - - - In short, yes, I've encountered this. And actaulyl got in fights with people over it. Being black (mutt specialyl) I tell people you need mroe of a reason to vote becuase of race, but many older blacks wont hear it. Poeple want change, and I feel its as simple as that...but race shouldnt be the only factor in change (but for this (presidental) race, it is.
  • They are as brainwashed as everyone else supporting him..
  • Simple....... ....don't be politically correct......just call them on what they are. . just say they are uninformed and are very foolish for voting for someone who they don't know anything about other than his slogan...(p.s....this apply's to everyone who is uninformed and not just one race) . oh, and by the way.......it is a VERY good come-back and arguing point if you can tell them reasons and FACTS why you support your candidate
  • O.K. I guess this is going to sound racist, but here it is.... Most black people I know say the same thing, what I tell them is this, voting for someone because of the color of their skin IS racist, ask them this. What will Obama do for you?...Is it reparations they look forward to...more Gov. programs they need, Do they think that a white guy can't represent their needs. Are their needs different than yours...OR is it ALL about race...You could also point out all the history of Barry, the misspeaks, all the times he's had to go back and explain the things he said in error...You could inform them how he is an apologist for America. We need someone who is proud of their country, not someone who has never been proud of America in their adult life"....
  • Interesting salon.com article. - http://www.salon.com/opinion/kamiya/2008/02/26/obama/ What's conveniently ignored, though, is that people have voted in blocks since voting began. Irish for Irish candidates, Gay people for gay rights advocates...democrats for democratic candidates and republicans for republican candidates. The list goes on and on. People vote for candidates they feel best would better address their issues or concerns. Black people have traditionally vote 80-90% for democratic candidates for YEARS. So much so that the Black vote was taken for granted. Now that we have a Black candidate for President, would it not seem the best interest of Black people to vote for the candidate that might best address Black issues? Besides, despite what your "Black friends" say, they're not exactly telling you the truth. If Blacks were ONLY concerned with having a Black president, Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton would have been serious candidates for the Presidency. I suspect the answers you received were shorthand for not being able to articulate their reasons for choosing Senator Obama. What's funny is, everyone is issues oriented now. This has got to be the most analyzed election in American history. If Obama wasn't a candidate, the only place you'd hear election reports and "issue discussion" would be cable news and radio talk shows. So, Black people's reasons for voting for Obama may not be "correct", and it's possible you're not hearing the "whole story" concerning their reasons, but that's the result of a people never having seen themselves represented in the highest office of the United States.
  • I guess the same blacks who swore OJ was innocent are now voting for Obama. The colour of OJ's skin made him unable to butcher two people. The colour of Obama`s skin makes him the perfect candidate for the White House. Blacks are just as colourblind as the rest of us.
  • anyone or to put anyone down. They are apples and oranges try again BTW race shouldnt be a factor for anything! We are all entitled to our opinions tho and as i respect yours i hope youll afford me the same curtuosy. i feel like if obama awas raised muslim and he is racist as long as he knows how to pocket that and handle the business at hand we have no problems he is most certainly the lesser of two evils. everyone is so quick to point out his flaws i could even begin to expose McCains...read up and as long as you vote i dont care who your vote is for!
  • Actually all of the Democrats cannot give one accomplishment this guy has done. Socialized health care will destry the very best we have. He will only deliver his Marxist propaganda to people who only wait for the government to give them something. I have a lot of black friends who will never vote for him because his ideas are staight out of the socialist book. People should not look at him as a black man, they should look at him as a man who wants to turn this great country into soviet like repulic
  • all i have to say
  • Look first off all what does the race have to do with anything because it's not like every white person, or asian or latino has all the facts for why they are voting for someone? I bet 90% of the people don't even know what they candidate is talking about. As a black man I got two reason im not voting for McCain. One he wants to raise taxes don't believe me go to one of those fact checkers website he's raising taxes more then obama. And twon he's a republican. Republicans have messed up to much. And everyone complaining about oh blacks are just voting for a black man be quiet please because I guarantee that blacks are voting democrat no matter what race.
