  • shin splints are generally caused by an overuse of the muscle, usually microtears in the muscle and connective tissue, and increased stress on the tibia (sometimes the bone will have stress fractures). the treatment involves rest and ice (by icee i think you meant ice). anyways, keep icing it several times a day, and stay off of it because it cannot heal if you keep using it. elevating the leg helps, and taking anti-imflamatories like ibuprofen. if you've not been to a doc, you should go in case it is not shin splints.
  • you get rid of them slowly and methodically, there is no one cure as most people have them for different reasons. What works for one person will not work for someone else.
