Whoever gave me negative points has "interesting" priorities: Going to the frigging moon again or using the money to cure cancer, AIDS and the other things I mentioned. Too bad you don't stand behind your convictions enough to either post or post a comment so we can discuss it.

Guess so. I can't see what I said as deserving of a negative. I mean someone might disagree, but it makes sense, and is SIMILAR to what some others said who GOT points! Geeeesh. Go figure some of these people.

They seem to be downgrading for the sake of it I was downgraded today for an opinion on something that was very personal and has helped me through a very difficult time I think the person or persons follow me about. Anyway no sense in griping at infantile behavious. I agree it is time we spent our dollars making our home a better place for all before we venture into space again

I really like this answer PG and I can understand your viewpoints. However, I bought a book written by a fromer astronaut. Don't have it to hand but I'll do my best to remember. He said that the amount of money spent on the Space programme is equivalent to one days expenditure for the Dept. of Health (or whatever your US equivalent is). Since one extra day of Healthcare would not make the slightest bit of difference in state of health of your nation overall, he argues this viewpoint does not hold up much. Furthermore, the unique environment within space and offered by long term lunar colonisation allows long term experiments to be planned that can result in the creation of new drugs, energy technology gives benefits that would mean space flight, and eventually lunar missions are actually cost beneficial. It's just that to the individual, the sum of money for a mission seems massive, but in context it's actually rather minute. But I do like your viewpoint, + 4.

Thank you all for your comments, opinions and answers. Though I would love to see more exploration of space and our solar system, there are just too many other things that need our time, attention, and financial resources.
