Ernie Banks, "Mr. Cub", played his entire career with the Cubs, from 1953 to 1971. Hit 512 career home runs and received two Most Valuable Player Awards, and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1977, his first year of eligibility. Unquestionably, Ernie Banks is a legend in major league baseball.

    The greatest... what?

The greatest shortstop? The greatest left handed pinch-hitter? The greatest center fielder at on-road games?

Srsly, baseball has FAR too many variables and recorded statistics to narrow it all down to ONE PLAYER.
