Nope. It's just an avatar, I don't think it's a good way to determine the type of personality someone has. The questions and answers are better indicators.

It might portray a slight hint at their interests or perhaps even personality, but the casual means by which most people decide on an avatar is a far cry from being any kind of a legitimate barometric insight as to what they're really like.

Well ,it's all we have to go on really. If I see an avatar with a smiley face I am going to assume they're friendly.

Not in all cases, but some types of pictures makes me think cetain thing about the user. Like, if it's a teen girl with that typical (and in my oppinion ridiculous) "I think I'm hot, look at me!" pose, I lose a bit respect for them.

I don't do any judging here. I don't know these people in real life. I can tell certain things about their behavior here, how they choose to represent themselves, but it's by their behavior not what avatar they choose.
