Do you have children? If not, hire a good lawyer and go for the jugular.

I'd get the best lawyer that I could afford and roast his butt and make him pay the legal fees as part of the settlement. He has already thrown down the gauntlet. He does not want a fair divorce. He wants you to suffer too. DO NOT BACK DOWN! My husband tried this on me because when we were married I always let him lead. This is a power struggle. Meet it head on and do not give ground.

It is not your husband's call. Get yourself a kick ass attorney and make sure he calls the shots here.

What others said. It is a power trip. Get a lawyer and let the lawyers settle it. You don't have to be nasty if you don't want to, but don't let your future ex dictate terms. He will find when you have lawyered up that what he wants and what he will get are two very different things. If he makes 3x more than you, and you've been married awhile, he will find that he has a rude awakening coming. Good luck to you.
