I have seen them and it is rather frightening that this has happened in our world and what a tremendous catastrophe that this horrible accident has caused. I have seen a few documentaries and quite a few images of the carnage resulting from this.

carnage? Yes there were a fair number of deaths caused by the accident there. You can now take guided tours of the town as the remaining radiation levels are very low. Wildlife has returned in large numbers to the area and there are even people living within the exclusion zone. The ongoing question of a permanent solution to the entombed number 3 reactor would make me hesitant to advise living there. Just imagine if they had followed the original plan of building the reactors on the outskirts of Kiev ( the city they serviced). The pictures I have seen are very interesting. Its not too often you can see a large town ( over 50,000 lived there) that has been totally abandoned. A lot of ghosts if you believe in that sort of thing.

I used to look at the website of a Russian who used to go there on her motorcycle and take photos. It was really unnerving to see what remains. According to her account, for a long time after the disaster, there were trees there that glowed.
