I accidentally left the natural gas on my stove on for more than 30 hours one time. I got home from work and the entire apartment smelled horrible - so after scouting after the smell and not finding the cause, I went to get a pack of matches from the kitchen to light a scented candle. Walking out of the kitchen, with matches in hand I saw the dial on the stove ! I was about 20 seconds from blowing up a good chunk of my apartment complex - oops :)

I have, actually. I was driving a car for the first time in about 15 years (it wasn't mine) when I nearly sideswiped a parked car at sixty miles per hour on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The guy whose car it was (I was relieving him for a couple of hours) estimated that we came about a foot from taking the guy's mirror off. Needless to say, we got off at the next exit, and he took over the driving.

During the hurricane, I was trying to leave downtown and headed north on the freeway when a surge of water washed me and about a dozen other cars right off the road and down a small hill (but it felt like a mountain). A few cars came to a stop ahead of me and I slammed into them, then more came and slammed into me, pinning me in my car (well, pinning the doors closed). It was the day I met Stephanie, because she's the one who helped me get out through my back seat and trunk. The whole time we were struggling to get away from the cars, we kept hoping no more would slam into us. She's my super-heroine!!!
