why not have a little of both and move to north mexico...?

Without knowing more about what you are hoping to achieve by moving, it's really hard to say. And why only these two choices? I'd love to offer my thoughts, but my analytical inner self needs more data to work on - cannot compute!

North Carolina. Prob. not so hot here. :) Oh yeah and we have beauitiful mountains, relaxing beach, big citys, and our own island.

I have lived in both states. It's a matter of what you like, job opportunities, climate and choices. Both states offer the mountains, (Appalachian Mts in NC, Jemez/Rocky Mts in NM) Both have large cities and small, rural areas. One advantage of NC, you have the beach. New Mexico has the Great plains/desert. Generally NC is hot and humid, NM is dry and windy. Educational opportunities are better in NC, imo. New Mexico usually ranks last in health care and the crime is higher. The cost-of-living for us was cheaper in NM. Housing and living expenses were lower. It all depends on what type of lifestyle you're looking for and where the opportunities will be a better fit for you. Here's what I think of when I compare both states and living there: New Mexico, wide open spaces, big, blue, sunny skies, dry and warm. North Carolina, pine trees, humidity, sandy beaches, biscuits and barbeque. Good luck!
