isnt your step child like 4? I think its expected. divide and conquer. YOu are your "husband" need to be equal to both kids so they start to learn that they cannot play you...

Of course they do...but you need to let them know that know that you are both on the same page. How old was your stepkid when you and there mom/dad got together. This can play a major factor as well. If they were older sometimes it's more difficult to develop a good relationship. My husband and I have been together since my stepdaughter was 1 1/2 so it was easier for me I think. Is this an issue of respect? I know there were times when my stepdaughter would get an attitude towards me, not a lot but sometimes. We let her know right away that no matter what she needed to respect me in our house. We don't have those problems anymore, we are very close.
