No. There was no such thing known then. But it means refined gold, or gold that is tested and removed of all it's impurities. The apostle Paul wrote earlier about what makes one rich towards God in 1 Timothy 6:17-19. SO if the materially wealthy Laodiceans followed Paul’s advice they could have become spiritually rich.
