  • One word...NO!
  • No - dirty polluted air, human rights abuses, Tibet, Taiwan, child labour - need i say more ?
  • No, sport should bring people together, this Olympics has done the opposite, Human rights in China is a joke.
  • Umm, about 10 years too late for this question, isn't it? The Beijing Olympics start in 8 days. Frankly, I think that Asia has been underrepresented in hosting the Olympics, so I'm OK with it. Now we just need to get the Games in Rio, or Buenos Aires, or Cape Town, or Cairo, to truly have a diverse Olympics community.
  • (http://johnibiii.wordpress.com/2008/04/25/beijing-was-selected-to-host-this-olympics-in-2001-a-look-back/) The power brokers in the IOC decided in July of 2001 that the answer was yes. I suspect over the next month we will see lots of people in Peking at the Olympic events demonstrating in an effort to state that the IOC was wrong.
  • Does anyone? What first world country can say proudly that they haven't done something that makes them undeserving of such an honor.
  • Why shouldn't it? Other countries also have screwed-up governments, polluted air, and human rights issues. Not just China.
  • Yes. And this question is way to late.. For those complaining about "human rights" wtf are you talking about? What violations has China done lately? Take a good look at the USA. Hmm. We Illegally took Hawaii. If you done some recent research, you would have known that the Native Hawaiians have retaken the Palace and refusing foreigners to visit. We just invaded Iraq and Afghanistan... Lets guess which country has the most POPULATED Prison cells? Which country has it's own Island to torture people? hmm.. Which country recently have police taser citizens for speaking against a politician? Don't TAZE me BRO! Which country injected the gay and african population with Aids? Why does AIDS have a US patent number? US patent# 4647773 The list goes on and on.. If you want to bring up past Violations by China.. What about the US? The way we treated blacks, natives americans, women couldn't vote. etc etc.. What about what happened in Waco Texas? Where US military tanks shot and ran over Homes filled with Children. THE MORE YOU KNOW!
  • It was not the best choice for the IOC to make but they made it and it is much too late to do anything about it. They will do their very best to make it a VERY successful Games
  • According to the IOC they do and I defer to their judgment, which is more informed than mine. I hope Beijing gets its air quality issues cleared up and I wish them the best in that regard. I don't know whether Vancouver, BC has the facilities, but if they do or will, I'd love to see the Summer games held there! :D
  • im sorry to be the one to break this to ya.. but the olympics this year are being held in Louisville kentucky, not "china" because u cant hold a sporting event in fictional places it'll be like FIFA in atlantis http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/855917
  • I feel that this question is quite racist and biased. Yes they deserve to host the Olympics. Just because a country has a 'bad' government according to you does not mean that its a bad country overall. Every country has bad governments and not every country has freedom. I hope that you get it through your head that China is a pretty good country and that you're just a racist.
  • Yes. They have the right to host it like any other nation. Politics should not be brought onto the sports field.
