Consider telling them that you would accept "starting pay" -- assuming this is your first job. Generally entry level positions are not salaried and are paid by the hour, so though they may use that phrase to get information, in all likelihood you will not be on a salary.

Being a teenager and having more than minimum wage is really hard to obtain if you've no prior experience in the domain you're applying for, or worse, if you have no experience in the work force whatsoever. It sucks but we all have to start somewhere.

I suggest researching what the average pay is for the type of job you want. If it's an entry level job, I would ask for about .50 cents to a 1.00 more than minimum wage. You may not get it, but they may offer you just a little more than regular starting salary. Most jobs that would hire teenagers start at minimum wage, so that may not even be negotiable.
