The child's best interest is always the main aspect. So whichever parent can take care of the child, support the child, protect the child and love that child, is the one the child will live with. They need a healthy, safe loving home, that is the bottom line

This must be decided on a case-by-case basis. You cannot say based upon gender, as it is inaccurate. Gender is not an indicator of ability to properly care for a child. In addition, some parents now are same-sex. Whichever party receives custody should be the parent who can care for the child in the child's best interest the best.

I believe the child should be awarded to the parent who actually does love the child and does not use that child as an object to create hurt and trauma to the other parent. It should not be given into the care of the parent who blatantly abuses their right to be a parent and who causes irreparable psychological damage to the child.
