I have marched three years and am on my fourth now, I have played clarinet for two of those years, mellophone for the third and now am playing baritone. The answer to your final question: fun, fun, fun, BUT ALSO, work, work, work (especially if your part of an extremely competitive band). Its only too much work if you don't balance it out with the fun; of course, fun isn't everything, its rewarding in many other ways. For instance you get to learn sweet music (usually) and also get to blast your brains out at football games. Most important is that day when you march on a field and just perform your heart out along with 100 other kids before a cheering crowd; there's no better feeling. Band's cool, there's just no doubt there.

Yes, flute. It was fun.

I played trumpet. I hated anything associated with school, but still play the instrument to this day. I love any excuse for a video answer, and this is a great song about a girl whp played piccolo in a marching band. Give it a listen and smile.

Yes, I played the trumpet all through high school, and then for 4 years in the Marine Corps Band. I loved it. Being a part of something bigger than myself, one band one sound. I loved it. What more can I say?

i played trumpet. it was tremendously fun. it was exhausting work. our director must have gone to marine boot camp and thought that's what we were supposed to be doing! rough, but, our band's reputation was outstanding. at the end of the year, he gave me a grade of "D". that looked strange next to my 8 As. i decided that he must not have wanted me in the band. i asked him about it a couple of years later and he said that it should've been an A or B. i went on to college and i haven't played trumpet much since. i still keep it and play it once in a while. playing trumpet was one of the best things in my life!!! i'd do it again!!!
