There are none. All dogs get bored though most shorter haired dogs don't shed much.

It depends on if you're looking for a large or small dog. Smaller dogs can be good guard dogs. Any dog can be trained to be protective of a family - I had a golden retriever that was VERY territorial! Corgis, Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, German Shepards, Rottweilers, and Doberman Pinschers come to mind. The Rotties, Doberman, and terriers are short breed dogs and won't shed as much. Corgis are smaller (20-40lbs) but are very hardy and smart. However, they do have a very thick coat that could shed a lot. Shepards are great guard dogs but they will also shed a lot. You can cut down on shedding by brushing the dog once or twice a week, and once a day during season changes (winter to summer, summer to winter). There are special brushes for high shedding dogs call the Furminator that works especially well. However they tend to be expensive, upwards of 60-80 dollars. A good dog is going to be a smart dog, so you will have to give them daily mental exercise. A Kong toy with a treat or peanut butter inside will keep them occupied for hours. A good rough and tumble is good for them too.

Almost any dog can be a guard dog, most dogs will protect their family no matter what. I have a border collie that is a sweetheart,he has never even growl at anyone, but one night my husband came home with a new hat and did't reconized him and he was going after him.I also have a great dane, just their size will scare people off,but they shed something horriable!!

bullmastiffs are great..silent assasins, and short haired. BUT..you have to have a stronger personality than the dog does..they will be dominate if you let them :)
