  • It can where the appropriate amount of wind is available. Not all areas of the country/world have this available. Think of New York city. Where will the wind mills be located?
  • It is possible, when storing the energy is solved. There is more than enough wind energy on the world to supply everybody with electircity. Although, building a high voltage network over very long distances and with much more transport capability than todays network reduces the times a lot when there is not enough wind energy, storing will things much more easy and safe, since there are also times when there is more wind energy than needed. So it can, in combination with a strong grid, and either some emergency backup, or high storage capacitys, and at the best mixed with other renewable ressources like sun and similar things.
  • Wind doesnt blow (strong enough) continuously in all/most parts of the world (and so cannot provide -with current wind technology- sufficient energy especially during high demands e.g. winter evenings) and so it is unreliable/unpredictable. (though excess energy can be stored)
  • Windmills only work in certain parts of the country. Not all areas are suitable for windmills, since the wind speed is below the requirements. Good for people in hilly and mountainous locations.
  • The energy companies don't want to invest in infrastructure and maintenance involved with windmills. Also, some people complain that wind farms are unsightly.
