Buy her some black lipstick.
-
Embrace what she feels is her individuality, but explain its outside the norm and theres a time and a place for everything.
-
I was goth myself. I was the goth emo freak in high school. Do nothing. It's her life.
-
Why do you need to do anything? She is experimenting with a look and developing her own identity - the fact that she is not following the norm displays confidence and individuality - you should be proud!
-
Do nothing her choice
-
It depends on what you mean by goth. Everyone has their own understanding of it. If she is not hurting herself or others then let her express herself, in time as she grows you will probably find it changes. Perhaps she feels the need to fit in with her peers.
-
Try to understand. Hell, Take her to a midnight showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, That's something she should enjoy, and you can share with her. Don't tell her what it is in the beginning, just find out when and where there is a local midnight showing, and then tell her you want to take her to a midnight movie, but don't let her find out what it is until you get there. Alternatively, you could dress up in costume, look up a script for an interactive showing, and really make a night of it.
-
why do you need to do anything? she's just going through a stage at the moment
-
Accept her =]
-
If you truly have a major hang up then just become goth with her. I bet she will change her mind.
-
You should let her dress however she wants, it's so important to allow a child to express themselves, that's what she's doing. My 13 yr old son is an honor roll student, plays drums in the band and also plays football, he is a kind, smart kid so when he wanted both ears pierced and hair colored blue, I colored his hair for him and took him to get pierced, just like all of us, they are just trying to find themselves which means they ae going to experiment with different looks and interests, don't try to change her, let her be who she wants to be.
-
Laugh. its probably a phase, I know my mother was goth WAY before it was even considered a style. She grew out of it after about a year.
-
now lets take a littel time to understand what goth is. a goth is a person who for one likes to be different. black is not the only color it involes red blue silver and grey. they also have a free soul and can find happyness in the dark. goths are proven to be very smart and most enjoy reading writeing or art. they are very misunderstood.
-
Give her a hug and tell her you love her.
-
Try not to force her to change because that will only enforce her to stay that way. Be accepting and maybe it is just a stage...I went through a goth stage when I was a sophomore in high school and it helped to identify who I really was (not goth)...lol...hope this helps
-
Be careful about expressing your opinion to her; If you admit to her that you are a bad person by judging the way your daughter dresses, or looks, you may accidentally impression that her judging others by physical appearance, dress sence, disability, race etc is an acceptable behaviour for human beings.
-
Hug her, love her, and insist that she make her grades regardless of how she dresses.
-
you didnt say how old she is. But it is pretty much her choice. It isn't always easy to watch our kids make choices different from what we would like them to make. I have learned that its their life and the choices they make are the ones they will live with whether we like it or not.
-
Respect her choice and she will appreciate you more, kids grow up healthy and happy and respect parents who allow them to be themselves
-
Be more goth than her it will make it not cool!
-
Teach her that all the best stuff is found in thrift stores or made by hand. No reason to go broke sponsoring Hot Topic, when you can get the look for MUCH less!
-
She's just expressing herself.. Trying to find out who she is. Just let her be, but don't let her behavior or anything get beyond your control.
-
i used to be a goth:) i'm still only 15......she is oonly trynig to find an identity....and i can tell you now....just be glad that she isn't following the norm....because the norm right now is absolutely ridicularse!!! But i will say...watch out for drugs, when i became a goth- i started hanging around with all sort of people, and i started smoking weed and much more....just keep an eye out...don't judge her for anything though xx
