Yay you! I'm a dad, but... . No ciggies or alcohol. Do get folic acid supplements -proven to reduce certain defects. Get plenty of calcium, or the baby's take it from you, weakening your teeth & bones. Continue to do mild stuff for exercise. . Get the announcements done BEFORE you give birth!!! You'll be too exhausted & busy afterwards. Prepare yourself for days when you don't even have the time for a shower. . Get the books "What to Expect When You're Expecting" and the one after that for new babies. . Don't beat yourself up for getting an epidural. Breast milk is better, but if formula works better for you, don't take any crap off anyone for that either. Binkies are ok, but be alert about overdoing them. . Stuff: A "Diaper Genie", which is a plastic 30" high cylinder with a continuous-feed plastic sleeve thing you shove dirty diapers down into and twist to seal 'em off - avoids mess and smell. A changing table - so much easier on your back than changing diapers on a bed. A car seat / baby carrier that belts into the car easily, and with a carrying handle that goes front-to-back instead of side-to-side, is worth the investment. A high chair with a tray you can take off / put on with one hand is worth it. A sling-back chair where the baby kind of reclines back, with a battery-operated "vibrator" feature, can really help a baby go to sleep. A swingy-chair, a saucer that the baby sits in the middle of, or a bungee chair that they bounce in when they're a little older, keeps 'em upright and happy. Get a stroller that you can open and fold with one hand, with a handle that's high enough for you and the hubby. Another cheapo stroller for short trips is worth it, too.

Congrats: after you have your kid, don't go out of your way to be quiet around the house when it's sleeping. Remember your baby lives with you, not the other way around. Make normal noise and have it get used to it. In short time he/she will sleep through anything.
