Mole Crickets burrow into the ground to produce a cone shaped burrow that massively boosts the volume of their singing. Jerusalem crickets burrow beneath moist soil to feed on decaying root plants and tubers. Carpenter Bees burrow into wood, making a nearly perfect 1/2" diameter hole... If you're not aware of this and put your hand over what looks just like a drill hole in a piece of lumber, the bee will come forward from its little home and sting you... and then there's the burrowing wolf spider... ;-)

Mites and bot flies. They both bury under your skin and lay eggs. When the eggs hatch, the bot fly larvae squirm around under your skin with tiny little barbs so you can't pluck them out. You can feel 'em, you just can't get rid of them without major pain. How's that?
