Scientists have already come up with a biofuel that is extremely cheap to make on a large scale. It's made from algae. There were previous arguements against using vegetable oils for fuel because they said it wouldnt be "cost-effective". I personally think they're making excuses. To me, anything that helps the environment is worth it.

who knows how high it will get, I am sure they will continue to inch it up by the cent until people start rioting or something. As far as alternate fuels there is and has been alternatives for some time now, but the governments refuse to fund these projects. Why? Because oil is big business and the people that run this country run this country because they get funded by people who run big oil and such. They don't want to bite off the hand that feeds them do they? So what will happen is they will control supply, keep demand and prices high and it will give the big oil companies time to make lots and lots of money and simultaneously allow them to start setting up production for how they will dispense the new fuel, and such. IT's not that they don't have a solution to the problem, they just need time to set it all up so they can make money. They could come out with a water fueled car tomorrow but they won't because the want to make money...they could come out with a hydrogen, electric or other alternate fuel car but they need to make the stations to refuel, the need to work out deels to transition out of gas stations (if you don't know most big oil companies have already started this and have sold almost all of their gas stations and fueling centers to small business owners). They will also need to strike up good deals with auto manufacturers who don't want to get stuck with all of these gas cars and they need to find ways to transitions this all into the market. Sure they are hiding stuff from us, they always do, they will keep a strnaglehold on us to get every dime from us that they can..then they will miraculously overnight have the solution, the car, the refueling stations and everything right at the last minute to save us...let's just hope the new cars aren't water powered or we won't be able to afford to drink because let's face it people, no matter what fuel source they come out with it will NOT be cheaper than gas..they will find a way to still get $$$ out of us.
