  • South Africa has 11 official languages, including Afrikaans (originally derived from Dutch), English, Xhosa, and Zulu. English is the 'official' language in Australia, but there were indigenous languages spoken there before the English colonization. I can see why some people MAY confuse English with a South African accent, with English with an Australian accent, but they are very different if you listen carefully, and the evolution of each accent is unrelated to the other. Australia and southern Africa may have been part of the same land, but that was a really long-ass time ago, before English was brought to either land.
