Help answer this question below.

If i eat a can of soup that can been expired for a year, will i die or get severely ill?

    It should be OK as long as the can didn't have pressure inside it, (puffed up lid). I eat food that expired all the time. I recently ate a can of salmon that expired over 13 years ago and i didn't get sick or die.

    Curious you should mention that...

    I had a can of soup this evening that was similarly past its "expiration" date.

    So far I feel...gack! cough! AHHHHHHH! Thump!

    ....:-D...

    Seriously, if the can is intact, the food has been sterilized and it is 'safe' to eat. It may not taste as good as a fresher can, but it's not going to hurt you.

    Of course you will not die but you might get sick depending on how it is packed. Anyway, you will not die.

    If the can is properly sealed, there is probably no chance that it will harm you.

    To be completely safe, throw it away.

    Might get sick, depends on how well the cannery sterilizes. If it was bloated, then you have some problems.
