  • If you are living in the US legally as a permanent resident, then you should have a regular US social security account. If you don't then I have to suspect your legal status. I had a social security account long before I became a US citizen. As far as citizenship goes, if your father was a US citizen when you were born you should have or be able to get US citizenship on that basis. Getting a certificate of birth abroad is something your father should have done when you were born, but I think you can do it retroactively if you have the right paperwork. If he was not, then you may have to qualify on your own.
