jefferson was so brilliant. when i look at the architecture of the jefferson building of the library of congress, monticello, and buildings at the university of virginia, and then read of his musical talents and read of his agricultural pursuits on the monticello plantation, and examine his contributions to our declaration of independence, constitution, bill of rights, and virginia's constitutional efforts, making the Louisianna purchase, and, gadz, i get tired just mentioning his achievements. while he never quite, in his own mind, resolved the inner conflict of freedom v slave holding, nor did he ever seem to learn to manage his personal finances. overall, he was, in my opinion, one of the finest, most brilliant men in american in the last 225 years.
