    I believe it is produced by chemical synthesis rather than using a natural source. You're not really going to make me look up the nicotine synthesis, are you? Organic syntheses are a pain in the butt to explain in words, and are even harder to understand for people who haven't studied organic chemistry. Edit: here's one link with some information on the synthesis that I found quickly on Google.
