  • That would be really silly. But I wouldn't doubt it.
  • noooooooooo(lemme at em)
  • No, I truly don't believe that's the combination.
  • No, besides DRs don't count towards total points earned. Oh hey Sweet T, haven't you been in the top 5 before?
  • i think those that think DR's count towards total scores try to target them. I think they attract attention.
  • In my opinion, it's probably more along the lines of the people who do get heavily downrated are going for points, points, points, instead of focusing on writing quality questions and answers. Poorly written stuff gets downrated more. That's just my theory, though. Good question, Sweet T. +5!
  • No because they wouldn't be top five.
  • It would be pointless if they did, but I think the kind of person who goes to that much trouble, would be down-rating the person(s) directly around their own ranking, wherever it might be.
  • Well, I've never been on the Top 5 (or Top 10, for that matter) and I never will, so I can't really know by myself, but I would imagine that if there were an ambitious n00b who thought that if he/she downrated the higher-ups, it would take their points away so that they would move down. Of course, it doesn't work like that, but I could also see someone doing the same thing out of spite.
  • I dont know about this but I would say instead of downrating others we should try to post quality answers and questions so that we could also reach their level..
  • I'm sure you just gave osmeone an idea. But I guess they might, if they are the jealous type. Although its kind of stupid to put all your engery into something so small. I can picture more people just answering more questions for points rather than downrating everyone (whichmay be counter-productive).
  • Yes Ive seen it happen to a few people.:-)+
  • Nahhh, I don't think so. Are all 5 getting hit hard? Is that always the case even when the Top 5 changes? Interesting question.
  • I never pay attention to that stuff so I wouldn't know. If that is true, though, it would be no surprise to me. People at the top are often the targets of potshots, hipshots and slingshots. It goes with the territory, I guess! :) Happy Friday! :) ((hugs))
  • I never take any notice of who is in the top five !
  • I really couldnt say. Is that the its seeming for you hun? well done by the way ^_*
  • 1) That is quite normal: the top 5 of the week are those who are asking and answering the most, usually. If you have a quite standard, non offensive behaviour, the more questions you ask and the more answers you give, the more downratings you will get. 2) I hope that they are not downrated *because* they are in the Top 5, this would be some kind of trolling. But this could happen, because some people could be envious. 3) You usually get in the Top 5 because: - you ask a lot of questions - you ask questions which get a lot of answers - you give a lot of answers - you give some feedback in your comments - you do a lot of flagging - you did the same in the past - you have a nice profile - you are "popular" 4) Did I mention quality? No. But of course, quality plays also a role! It will make you appreciated, for instance. And you could also get more points sometimes. But actually, if your questions are not extremely repetitive and boring, and if you have a feeling for the kind of questions which get a lot of answers, this will work even if you don't have a superior "quality" in your questions. And many people will give you some points just for answering their questions. If you are giving much more quantity than quality, you *will* possibly get a lot of points, but do not wonder if you get also a lot of downratings. I don't say that this would be the case for the top 5, however.
  • Silly as it sounds, there are those trolls who actually are so petty, bitter, jealous, hateful...whatever!...that they would do something so juvenile. If they's just relax, have fun, and enjoy themselves instead concerning themselves with points and levels like most of us do, maybe they wouldn't to feel the need to do such a thing.
  • I am quite certain that they do because most people have a very selfish streak in them and instead of working hard to raise the bar for themselves they get a sadistic pleasure in pulling others down. I've seen it happen everywhere in life, so I am certain that the top contributors must be facing this too.
