Why don't they make bicycle helmets with more facial protection, like a motorcycle helmet has?

They are not going as fast, for a bug hitting a motorcyclist at 50-75mph is a lot worse than a bug getting stuck in your eye at 5mph.

A few reasons: First, They get too hot. When your on a motorcycle, your not doing anything to raise your body temp. Second, their too heavy And third, You lose most of your peripheral vision. Don't BMX racers use something like a motorcycle helmet?

If you get hit by a car most of the time you suffer broken legs. Those helmets offer some protection but also give a false sense of security,IMHO
