  • Pros? There are some? Seriously are there? I don't buy the bunk about WMD or bringing democracy to people that didn't have it. Tell that to the 50 some odd found in the desert yesterday. Cons?see above. My opinion as a Canuck and not a tree hugger Canuck either. I spent 6 months helping to enforce an embargo and one combat action in the first war. It was overkill then. This one is just fueling the tension.
  • Ooooh, touchy question.... Here's one man's efforts to remain somewhat detached: Pros: --Saddam Hussein is no longer in power --It's probable that some Islamist terrorists went to Iraq to cause trouble instead of attacking Western countries --It's probable that the US invasion scared Libya out of seeking CBN weapons --If you own stock in Halliburton or one of the major oil companies, you've made a bunch of money. --If you worked as a private contractor in Iraq (providing security, driving trucks, etc.) AND you survived, you made a bunch of money. --If you're a Democrat, the war gives you an issue upon which you can hammer Republicans (and vice versa) Cons: --The war has killed about 3,000 Americans, wounded and disabled thousands more, and devastated the Iraqi population and infrastructure. --The war has cost American taxpayers about $0.5 trillion so far. The long-term monetary cost remains uncertain. --The money and resources spent in Iraq might better have been spent in Afghanistan and on homeland security --Iraq has splintered into secterian violence --The Iraq invasion probably has prompted Iran and North Korea to accelerate their nuclear weapons development programs. --US relationships with traditional allies are strained because of the Iraq War. --Many believe that the US invasion as served as a catalyst for recruitment of Islamist terrorists. --Legislation passed in response to 9/11, the war in Afghanistan and the war in Iraq contains modifications of civil liberties that many find troubling. This isn't a comprehensive list but it contains most of the major points Are the benefits worth the costs????
  • The politicians of both parties can use it as an issue to keep the media focused on so that neither one of them have to deal with the unpopular problems such as the deficit, under funded social security, lack of medical care for people who have worked all their lives but lost their insurance when their job was exported, etc. This generation is just going to pass those problems on to the next generation. Along with global warming.
  • saddams human rights record is among the worst in history. now one of the most dangerous men is behind bars, and one of the most dangerous terrorist groups in currently un able to attack this in itself is reason enough AND makes every dollar, life( us soilders who died in battle had the choice and chose to die for freedom)worth it. • -Saddam is a major threat to stability of the Middle East. -Saddam is connected with terrorists and may supply them with weapons of mass destruction. -It would send a forceful message to other dictators and would-be state sponsors of terrorism. -A model democracy could be set up in the Arab world, possibly leading other Arab governments to follow suit. -Oil prices could dramatically drop with a short, successful campaign. -We can remove our troops from Saudi Arabia and much of the Arab world if he's gone. -We would have Iran and Syria, perhaps the biggest terrorist sponsors, surrounded by U.S.-friendly governments. -Most Arab governments want Saddam gone; the public opinion backlash may not be as great as portrayed in the media. -Saddam continues to fire on U.S. and British planes enforcing U.N. no-fly zones. -Saddam refuses to return the booty he stole from Kuwait during the Gulf War or account for hundreds of prisoners. -The cost in lives and dollars of containment is higher than that of war. -The credibility of President Bush and the U.S. is at stake. -Saddam deserves to be punished for the death & misery he's caused to the world. -The credibility and relevancy of the U.N. is on the line.
  • Pro Saddam is no longer in power. The war avenged the deaths on 9/11. Cons High american casualties. Spent too much moeny on the war. The war made americas economy go back to it was ten years ago. No sign of terroists stopping the attacks.
  • this suck donkey balls!!!!!!!
  • Pros-It made a lot of money for people invested in the industry of war. Cons-It severely drained the bank account of the US and not accomplished much. -The country is looked down upon for invading Iraq. -Iraq was stable under the rule of Saddam and is now in shambles because of the occupation. -Invading Iraq in reality had nothing to to with 911,restoring democracy,or finding finding terrorists.
  • NO PROS.
  • we are doing well with casualties for americans its the least in all the wars that america has faced
  • The only pro I can think of about this war, is that Baby Bush got to hook up Cheney's old company (Haliburton) and other corporate buddies with a bunch of no bid contracts to profit from this war. At one time in American history, war profiteering was seen as treason, but in Bush's America, it's noble capitalism. The cons are numerous: 1. We've lost support and credibility around the world. 2. This war costs $4 billion a month. This greatly contributed to the current $9 trillion debt and economic catastrophe that Bush created. 3. Well over 3,000 soldiers died over Bush's war. Not to mention the tens of thousands of injured soldiers. Let us not forget the million plus innocent Iraqi civilians that were needlessly killed. That's a lot of blood on Bush's hands. 4. This war helped expand Al Qaeda, and gave Islam extremists all the propaganda and training they needed to further hate and resistance against Americans. 5. This war led to Bush flushing the constitution down the toilet by opening illegal secret prisons, detaining and torturing prisoners, and spying on American citizens...
  • the pro we took out Saddam before he was able to take a shot at us
  • The only pros are that Halliburton, Blackwater and EXXON, et al became rich beyond anybody's wildest dreams. Capitalist war profiteering at its best! The cons are: 1. Illegal war for oil 2. Americans pay $5/gallon of gas 3. 136 billion taxpayer dollars blown 4. Over 3,000 American soldiers dead 5. Over 1,000,000 innocent Iraqis dead 6. The world hates the US 7. Terrorism is on the rise 8. The US is now more exposed to attacks 9. The Patriot Act 10. Afghanistan was also invaded and posessed And not necessarily in that order... • Pro's: -We're helping a coutry that's falling apart. -Less innocent people are dying. -The longer we're there the more time the countries leaders have to change the way the country is run. -If we pull out there could be another act on the us. I personally think that maybe 9/11 was a way that people were saying 'thanks for leaving us to fend for ourselves.' I mean asn't the leader of the planned plaine crashes just some pissed guy? Con's: -We've lost so much money in this war. -Too many soliders have died. I mean those are peoples babbies. -We haven't really stopped that many terroist. -The was wasn't even started for revenge or anything. Bush just wanted oil.
  • Pros:Some terrorists die Cons:Some innocent people die
  • Pro ~ it earns some people a good living. Cons ~ it costs too many people their lives.
