  • Assists are awarded to the last two teammates of the scoring player to touch the puck as long as no opposing players touched it in that time.
  • Normally it is the Ref that determines how many IF any at all assists they recieve at the time of the goal.
  • At the referees discretion assists are awarded to up to two of the players who previously touched the puck before it is passed into the goal by the person who is awarded the goal... Person who shoots the goal awarded the goal. Person who passed to the goal scorer gets the first assit. Person who passed to the person who got the goal is awarded the second assist. Although, referees may decide not to award assists at all.
  • As indicated, up to two assists are given to those teammates who previously touched the puck without an opponent touching the puck immediately before a goal. The only exception of the opponent touching the puck is the goaltender. i.e. in a situation where say player #14 passes to player #12 who takes a shot on goal that is stopped by the goaltender and then play #20 puts the puck into the net. Player #12 gets the first assist and player #14 gets the second assist.
  • A referee has a good say in this matter. If during the possession, the puck is scored, that player is awarded a goal, and if someone (player #1) passed it to him, then he is awarded an assist. If someone passed it to player #1, then he is also awarded an assist. The referee may choose to only give one assist on a goal, however, or may choose to give no assists at all. Basically, if three people on the same team touched the puck on a possession before/during shooting, there would be a person awarded a goal and up to 2 assists awarded.
  • if someone passed the puck to the player who scored that is an assist... there can be 2 assists per goal. The person who scored, and the 1 or 2 people who assisted, are credited. The person who scored is credited with "a goal" and the other 1 or 2 people are credited with an "assist" with shows up on their stats. Goalies on the other hand are not credited for assits... say the puck went behind the net and the goalie brought it out for a player and that player scored (on the other team) and no one else touched it between him and the goal. The player gets credited with "a goal", but the goalie does not get an assist because goalies stats don't work the same way as players, therefor they don't technically "assist"... hope that made sence,.. lol Nikki
