"Thank You." - Why ask a question only to give this answer? IMO you don't deserve any points if this is your answer, unless it's obvious that a "thank you" was warranted.

Good point. Just give points for being polite. Who cares if they actually answer the question as long as they are polite? Sarcasm

I don't think I have ever seen an answer that only said thank you. I have seen comments after the answer say thank you and have gotten some myself. I am guessing those are thanking me for taking the time to answer their question. But I would agree just saying thank you in an answer does not deserve points neither would i don't know answers don't deserve points in my opinion.
