First of all you have to set up your internet connection. Here you can choose between a Wired area connection (so directly connected to the ps3 from the modem via a ethernet cable) or a Wireless Area Connection. You tube has good help on this. Just enter ps3 internet setup and take it from there. You will need you I.P adress, DNS server etc etc etc. To set this all up you simply go to settings->network settings and take it from there.
