Anyone has the right to change their belief at any time, for any reason.
-
Children are not obligated to follow their parents religion. In this country yo have the right to religious freedom, thats what it was founded on.

Lol - that question seems strangely familiar ... :)

Now THAT is funny. I wish I could give you more than +2.

Religion, unlike inborn characteristics like orientation and eye color, is learned. However, having a different belief system than the parents doesn't entitle the child to any "special rights" over and above any other child. If I were a parent, I hope I would be open enough to be glad that at least my child believed in SOMEthing that helps humanity as a whole. (And kudos for the "homage" question.)

Even a child can and will believe what he believes. The parents have the right to exercise some control over the child's behavior as part of their responsibility to prepare him to become an adult. If that's a problem, be patient. Your time will come. - Once he is legally an adult, every person has the right to choose his own affiliations. When your time comes, make the break as gently as you can, but be firm about it. They still want what they want because they love you. But now the right and responsibility to choose is yours.
