Ok just to clarify Alateen is for teens who are dealing wit family members that are addicted not teens themselves who are addicted right? and also I am 18 so I dunno if alanon of alateen would be a better choice for me pls help!?

Your correct when you say Alateen if for teens living or associated closely with an alcoholic that is affecting their lives. As for where you should go.. try both. In Alateen there could be very young people there and if your a mature 18 year old you might feel a little advanced... Alanon is for 18 or older and people there will vary as well. I did Alanon at 19 and I was the youngest but I made a lot of good older friends I still talk to. Like I said, try both and see.... its great your considering this.. its hard at your age to face the reality that someone you care about is lost to alcohol and there is nothing you can do about it other than keep yourself from going insane.
