I work in law enforcement and i see the worst that people have to offer, every day. Just once, the other day, i was driving down a street and stopped my car in its tracks. here was a sight i have not seen, since the 1970's. it was a man and a woman, TOGETHER, pushing their children in baby carriages. It was like a breath of fresh spring air to see a couple actually together with their children. i was so impressed, that i got out of my car and actually thanked them for being together with their children. I see mostly one- parent families in my job. the calls are either for domestic violence or a runaway child. it can take a toll. Asking and answering your own question is out of bounds, with answerbag. i realize this and will not disagree, if my question/answer is not honored. I just felt so good about that particular encounter with the couple and their children, that i wanted to share it with my answerbag friends. This made my day and i hope this reaches you, to make it your day. john

i don't blame you for wanting to share. people can get very caught up in the many negative things overpublicized by the media. rare is the occasion when you hear about the accomplishments that society is making to make the lives of the people around them better. oops...double posted when i meant to comment

What makes my day is hearing from those I love. Some things can actually lift my mood, though. A smile from a stranger will usually do it. Kids always make me smile.

Out on a starlit night, full moon, cold, crisp, fall evening, I roll up to the quarter mile stretch out on the old Belcherville Hwy. I roll down the windows and can hear nothing but the howl of coyotes in the distance. I put it in neutral and rev the motor, I hear and feel the power of my hemi break the silence. Then I put it back in drive, stand on the gas pedal and hear that K&N ram air system suck air, the rubber squeals as the rear tires grab for asphalt and the dual performance exhaust roars to answer the coyotes as my pickup charges down the road. I have a natural need for speed and as I hit the half-way mark I drop the NOS toggle and as I see the needle drop over 120 mph I feel excited as I have ever felt. The smell of burning rubber and the feel of speed makes my day.
