That depends on your own beliefs. If you believe that you need instruction and structure to have a relationship with God then yes. If you feel that you are more of a do it myself kind of person than no. Neither one is better than the other. They are just two different paths for people with different needs/wants.

I think what is important is the relationship you develop with God..he knows that alot of these churches out here arent right, and he doesnt want us to be led astray so I think as long as your heart wants a relationship with him and you learn his word wether it be by going to a church or learning at home by yourself as long as you make that effort he will meet you half way...me personally I dont belong to a church but I watch alot of different pastors on television and I get the same understanding as I would if I was sitting in a church pew.

Necessary for what? Being in a group can be very good for getting you to believe what others believe regardless of what you actually believe yourself. Personally I think you should try to find your own path, and if what you find falls outside of organized religion then that should be just fine. Don't let anyone fool you, no one has any proof that their religion is the true faith, or in fact if any religion is the true faith. Your private beliefs are more important than anything any organized religion can teach you. Remember, if god is out their he will find you. And he wont need the help of organised religion. PS I apologize for referring to a god as a male, that would be simply absurd.

Christians , just like Jews of OT should stay together, worship, and Jesus did do as other Jews up UNTIL HE fullfilled prophecy..... HE did say, " where there are 1 or 2 gathered in MY NAME, I will be there also"...and this could be sitting by a creek!!!!! but we go to a building for fellowship with other BELIEVERS but the main purpose is to WORSHIP & sing praises & hear the WORD!to HELP SPREAD the WORD , HELP POOR, FATHERLESS, WIDOWS , AND UNFORTUNATES... and no other, or shouldn't be anyway....

There is a story that I heard in a sermon long ago. The leader of one our congregations (the bishop) went to visit a member that had not been out to church for a number of years. They were sitting in front of a fire talking when this member told the bishop that he didn't see why he had to go to church. He prayed and studied the scripture regularly. He was doing his best to live a good life. So, why did he need to go to church? The bishop thought for a moment and then, without saying a word, he used the tongs next to the fire place to take a red hot coal out of the fire and set it on the hearth. Then he just sat there along with the man and watched the coal. Over the next several minutes it cooled and turned from a bright red to a dull gray and went out. The bishop then used the tongs to once again pick up the coal and place it back in the fire. Then they watched as it came alive again. After a few moments of pondering this, the man turned to the bishop and said, "I get your point. I'll see you in church on Sunday." Can you live a good life without going to church? Yes, but it is much harder. We live in a world where we are bombarded with messages whose aims are to draw us away from God. There are people out there that are peddling the vilest of behaviors as being perfectly good and right. They are doing precisely what the prophet Isaiah warned about in calling good evil and evil good (Isa. 5: 20). Many times they are very subtle about it. In joining and regularly attending a church, you gain a support group who can help you resist these false messages. You get a reality check to help recognize the subtle temptations that lead to major problems. Thus, you can stop the bad behavior before it goes too far. Churches can also provide opportunities to serve others. The image of the solitary individual heroically defeating the armies of his evil adversary may be quite stirring, but it is is not very realistic. More often then not the solitary individual will be swarmed under by the oppressors minions. So it is with those that try to go it alone in the battle against evil. So, is it necessary to belong to an organized religion? We can debate this until the Earth passes away. However, I say that belonging to the right church makes staying on the straight and narrow path that Jesus describe much easier.

In Christianity, yes, it is. We should not absent ourselves from the assembly, as some do, but encourage one another; and this all the more because you see that the Day draws near (Hebrews 10:25). Christianity is neither a spectator sport nor a journey of one. Christianity (among other things) requires that you: • Worship your creator • Develop your relationship with God • Help build up the Church, the Body of Christ, the Communion of Saints, the family of believers Regular attendance and participation in your Church's services can help you reach these goals. You also obey the Commandment to "keep holy the Lord's day" by going to church on Sundays. With love in Christ.

I think the primary goal is to become familar with God's organization, and not man's organizations.

Even amongst the most loyal and steadfast church attendees, you will find those weak in heart and spirit, attending more out of habit then love of God. It's entirely up to you.

unity in Jesus church(body) is very much stressed ...working together to Spread the WORD, help poor, fatherless, unfortunates, etc... Paul loved the good church of Phillipi, but reprimanded Euodis and Syntyche for having division and not in harmony with the others!!Phil.4:2...peace and unity should be among all Christians..John 17:21; Matt.16:18;Phil.3:16; Ps. 133:1 Yes, we are to work together in UNITY with our fellow Christians..organized religion or suspicions, NO... Theodore Roosevelt: "the most important single ingrediant in the formula of success is knowing how to get along with others." listening and learning the Word helps us and keeps our light shining!!

Certainly not, walk your own path.. seek your own truth. Not belonging to any 'faith' does not mean you don't believe in God. Religion is a man-made contrivance designed to codify our existence to conform to somebody elses wishes. How many people blindly adhere to these 'spiritual teachings' in the hope of being rewarded and the fear of being punished? The Abrahamic doctrines are religions of fear and desire, not love or peace. Do this and you can live forever in such happiness as you could never imagine, but don't do that or you'll burn in Hell for eternity and your family will suffer for 40 generations, what transparent rubbish. If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed Religion is not the turn-key of spirituality, it grieves me that people can be so mindless. We are spiritual beings, God is in each and every one of us.. not in books written by desperate, ambitious men.

I am new to another way of thinking "I" AM NOT PERFECT ,WHAT IS IN MY HOUSE iS PERFECT: My body is his CHurch ,MY Home is where the heart is, Purity of religion is when I don't stray from my church , I don't idolise my church and I love to get together with other churches , When I try to organise other churches my church falls apart or becomes disfunctional , I am always trying to update my church and spend all my day communicating with my Creator in my church . There is no darkness at all in my church and I share it with my true friend , MY FIRST LOVE. Is organised religion necessary .. NO ! Is connecting with others and helping your neighbours ... YES ! You are Holy because I am Holy ! need a building..NO! RESPECT FOR THE BODY OF CHRIST/YAWHEH/JEHOVAH/HOLY SPIRIT ............ABSOLUTELY YES !!! DO WE DO IT.....NO , WE ARE NOT CONSISTENT. TOTAL FORGIVENESS AT MY CHURCH ..... YES, YES ,YES !
-
No. Organized religion is a negative experience.
-
Not at all, but if that is what helps your life feel complete and brings you some level of comfort, go for it.
-
Christ set up his Church up on the Earth while he was here, then lovingly he said "come follow me." to me, Christ wants us to follow his Church and be a part of it.
-
As necessary as belonging to organized crime
-
For some. Some are weak in their faith and would lose it if they weren't bolstered by other believers.
-
Does it matter? You mean does it matter to God? If you're worshipping the God of the Bible,...absolutely. Look at how detailed the system of worship he outlined for the Israelites was. He TOTALLY cared about HOW they worshipped him.
