They sell them here, in Ohio, but I don't see them all the time. Usually I see them in very fancy food stores. Maybe they have a season. Perhaps you can ask the produce managers at several food stores to find the right answer.

Like all citrus fruits, they come in and out of season. They should be in the stores very soon from this year's crop. I never buy oranges in the summer because by that time they are still last autumn's crop and they tend to be woody, dry and tasteless. Unless they come from south of the equator , in which case in our summer, they are this year's crop and good and fresh. I hope I have made myself clear, but I doubt it.

Some supermarkets sell them later in the year, but you're right they do seem rarer than they used to be. Tropicana make Sanginello which is blood orange juice that is available part of the year, but otherwise i think the best think to do is ask you're local green grocer if they can get some in for you.
